Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday declared that he had fulfilled his promise to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack, asserting that Operation Sindoor had reduced terrorist hideouts to rubble. Addressing a massive public rally in Karakat, Bihar, PM Modi said he had returned to the state after honouring the vow he made from its soil.
“Even the name Sasaram carries the name of Ram. The people here understand Lord Ram’s values — Praan jaaye par vachan na jaaye (Life may go, but a promise must be kept). Just a day after the horrifying attack in Pahalgam, I pledged that the terrorists and their protectors would be crushed. Today, I have come back after fulfilling that promise,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister referred to the deadly April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that killed several innocent civilians. He stated that the world, including Pakistan, had witnessed the might of Indian daughters and the resolve of Indian forces.
“The power of the sindoor worn by India’s daughters was seen by the world. Terrorists who thought they were safe under Pakistan Army’s shield were brought to their knees in a single strike,” he asserted.
PM Modi was accompanied at the rally by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, where he also unveiled and laid the foundation stones for a slew of development projects worth over ₹48,520 crore.
A major announcement was the foundation stone for Stage-II (3×800 MW) of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in Aurangabad, valued at ₹29,930 crore. The project aims to boost Bihar’s power supply, industrial development, and job creation.
Key infrastructure projects were also launched, including:
- Four-laning of the Patna–Arrah–Sasaram section (NH-119A)
- Six-laning of the Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata highway (NH-319B)
- Ramnagar–Kacchi Dargah stretch (NH-119D)
- A new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli
PM Modi also inaugurated the four-laning of the Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section of NH-22 and road development works in Gopalganj. In the rail sector, he dedicated the third rail line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj, enhancing connectivity and capacity.
On Thursday evening, PM Modi held a roadshow in Patna that drew large crowds, with people waving the Tricolour and cheering as he passed by.
Later, he inaugurated the New Terminal Building of Jayprakash Narayan International Airport, built at a cost of ₹1,200 crore and designed to handle 1 crore passengers annually. He also laid the foundation for the ₹1,410 crore Bihta Airport civil enclave, expected to serve Patna’s growing suburban and educational hubs.
The visit underscored the government’s dual focus on national security and regional development, with PM Modi reaffirming both progress and resolve.
